Baccharis neglecta
Poverty Weed (Roosevelt Willow) is a fast-growing native shrub with narrow resinous leaves that colonizes disturbed limestone soils and dry pastures. In late autumn, female plants produce dramatic plumes of silvery-white silky seeds that catch the light like snow. Blooming when few other plants are active, it provides essential late-season nectar for honeybees and migrating Monarchs.
