Monarda citriodora
Lemon Beebalm (Purple Horsemint) is an aromatic native annual easily recognized by its citrus-scented leaves and showy, tiered whorls of purple-spotted pink flowers framed by leafy purple bracts. Rich in thymol and essential oils, it has a rich history in indigenous herbal teas for treating colds and fever. Its complex tubular blooms are specialized nectar hubs for long-tongued bumblebees, hummingbirds, and swallowtail butterflies.
