Dotted Gayfeather (Narrowleaf Blazing Star) is an extraordinary native perennial producing upright, wand-like spikes of feathery, magenta-purple flower heads. Its common name references the tiny resinous dots covering its narrow, linear leaves. Equipped with a deep, woody taproot reaching up to 15 feet into limestone fissures, it survives extreme droughts. Blooming prolifically in late summer and fall, it serves as a magnetic nectar hub for migrating Monarchs, swallowtail butterflies, and native bumblebees.
