There's a version of a romantic getaway that involves room service, valet parking, and a lobby full of strangers. That's fine. But there's another version that involves waking up in a cabin surrounded by oaks, making coffee without an agenda, and spending the evening by a fire pit under a sky full of stars with no one else around.
That's the version you get at Woodline Ranch.
Twin Oaks: Your Home Base
If you're planning a couples' retreat, start with Twin Oaks. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, and room for up to six, but it's just as good for two people who want space to spread out.
The cabin sits in a grove of ancient oak trees that have been on this land for generations. It's private, quiet, and set back from the rest of the property. You can hear the wind in the canopy from the deck.

What makes it work:
- Private heated pool. Just yours. No shared pool deck, no towel tags, no schedule.
- Fire pit. Pull two chairs up after dinner. The deer usually wander through around dusk.
- Full kitchen. Grab groceries from Dripping Springs on your way in. Cook together. Eat outside.
- Space to breathe. The second bedroom doubles as a reading room, a place to nap, or just a door you can close when you want a moment to yourself.
What Quiet Luxury Actually Means Out Here
"Quiet luxury" gets thrown around a lot. At Woodline Ranch, it means something specific: the cabins are modern, well designed, and stocked with everything you need, but the experience isn't about the amenities. It's about the space around them.
You're on a working ranch property with ancient live oaks, native grasses, and wildlife. There are no programmed activities, no concierge texts, no turndown service. The luxury is the privacy and the landscape. You set the pace.
For couples, this usually looks like:
- Morning: Coffee on the deck. Watch the birds. Maybe a walk around the property.
- Midday: Drive into town for lunch, a winery tasting, or a hike at Reimers Ranch.
- Afternoon: Back to the cabin. Pool. Read. Nap. Whatever you want.
- Evening: Cook dinner or head out to one of the restaurants below. Come back for the fire pit and the stars.
No one is going to hand you an itinerary. That's the point.
Where to Eat: Date Night in Dripping Springs
You don't have to cook every night. Dripping Springs has several places that are worth the short drive.

3509 Creek Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620
This is the one to book if you want a proper sit-down dinner. Tillie's is set in a restored stone building on the Camp Lucy property, surrounded by gardens and old oaks. The menu leans farm-to-table with European influences, and the wine list focuses on Texas producers. Ask for a patio table at sunset.
131 Sportsplex Dr, Dripping Springs, TX 78620
Homespun is a local favorite. The food is farm-to-table American with strong seasonal menus, and it doesn't feel like a tourist spot. Good for a casual dinner where the food is genuinely thoughtful. Their brunch is also excellent.
5200 W Hwy 290, Dripping Springs, TX 78620
If you want a drink after dinner without driving all the way to Austin, Grawlix is it. This is a dimly lit cocktail bar with a creative drink menu and a relaxed atmosphere. It feels like a neighborhood spot that happens to make really good drinks. Perfect for a nightcap before heading back to the ranch.
Wine Tasting for Two
Dripping Springs is surrounded by small-production wineries, most of them family-owned estates with serious history. We wrote a full guide to the best wineries in Dripping Springs, but here are three favorites for a couples' afternoon.

1750 Ranch Rd 12, Dripping Springs, TX 78620 (10.5 miles)
A gravity-flow winery with an underground limestone barrel cellar carved into the hillside. The tasting room overlooks 7.5 acres of estate vineyards, and they welcome picnics on the grounds. It's one of the most scenic spots in the area.
13308 FM 150 W, Driftwood, TX 78619 (16.8 miles)
Tuscan-style architecture, Italian grape varieties grown in Texas, and one of the best Vermentinos in the state. The grounds are beautiful and the tasting room has a relaxed, unhurried pace that fits a couples' afternoon perfectly.
3700 Bell Springs Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620 (7.6 miles)
Practically walking distance from the ranch. Approachable wines, live music most weekends, and a dual brewing operation on the same property. It's easy to lose a whole afternoon here.
Get Outside Together
Some of the best parts of a couples' trip have nothing to do with restaurants or wineries. A few ideas:
24300 Hamilton Pool Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620 (15 miles)
A limestone grotto with a 50-foot waterfall dropping into a jade-green swimming hole. It's one of the most photographed natural landmarks in Texas, and it lives up to the photos. Reservations are required and fill up quickly, so book as early as you can. Swimming availability depends on conditions, but even if the water is closed, the hike and the grotto are worth the trip.
23610 Hamilton Pool Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620 (11 miles)
A quieter alternative to Hamilton Pool with miles of trails, river access, and panoramic views. It's also an International Dark Sky Park, which makes it a good sunset-to-stargazing destination. Pack a blanket.
2585 Park Rd 6026, Johnson City, TX 78636 (32 miles)
The river cascades over tiered limestone ledges, especially scenic after rain. The golden hour light here is something else. Bring a camera.
The Stargazing Deck at Woodline Ranch
Don't overlook what's already here. The ranch has a dedicated stargazing deck, and on a clear night the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye. Dripping Springs is the first Dark Sky Community in Texas for a reason. Bring a blanket and a bottle of wine. It's one of the most romantic things you can do out here, and it doesn't cost anything.
Unplug (Seriously)
The best couples' trips we've seen at the ranch share one thing in common: people actually put their phones down.
This sounds like a cliché, but the property makes it easy. There's no TV pushing notifications. There's no front desk texting you offers. The Wi-Fi is there if you need it for music or a movie, but the default state of the ranch is quiet, and that quiet is the whole point.
Bring a book. Bring a deck of cards. Bring a bottle of something good. Leave the group chat on mute for 48 hours.
You'll remember this trip longer than any resort with a spa menu.
Twin Oaks is one of our most requested cabins for anniversaries, birthdays, and "just because" trips. It books up, especially on weekends. If you're thinking about it, check availability sooner rather than later. We'll leave the fire pit ready.
