A familiar thrush species that winter visits Woodline Ranch in large flocks, foraging across lawns and cedar woods for berries and earthworms.
Field Identification: Warm reddish-orange breast, dark slate-grey back, blackish head cap, white eye-arcs, and yellow bill.
Texas & Hill Country Notes: In Texas Hill Country winters, massive flocks of robins feed heavily on mature Ashe juniper (cedar) berries. Their famous early morning "cheer-up, cheerily" song is one of the first bird calls heard at dawn in spring.
